Alpha H – Liquid Gold

I’m not the kind of person to go extreme with my skincare. I have combination skin with adult acne, so I have to be very careful what I slap on my face! It’s so difficult trying to get rid of scars from my teens and twenties. If only I was born with perfect skin!

I have been seeing and hearing about Liquid Gold for sometime now, and have been a bit scared and skeptical to try this product, as it does contain Glycolic acid! Glycolic Acid is a type of Alpha Hydroxy Acid. It naturally occurs in sugar cane and is used in cosmetics because of its small molecular structure, easy penetration into the skin and water binding properties.

Glycolic Acid works well as an exfoliater because of its high acidity and easy solubility. When placed on the skin it goes under the damaged upper layers and assists in shifting dead skin cells. The result is a much-smoother skin surface and a more youthful appearance. This removal of dead skin cell build up helps to decongest the skin, encourage cellular renewal and minimise the appearance of pigmentation.

I purchased Alpha H from cult beauty and the staggering price for 100ml did put me off, but I need my face to become less texturised, less bumpy and just get rid off all these acne scars. I have tried bio oil, tried loads of face masks, and nothing seems to be working! So I took the plunge. I have been using it for a week now. Dampen a cotton pad, a few tiny drops go a long way. Cleanse my face beforehand, making sure the residue from the day is all bye bye! Then wipe the cotton pad all over my face, neck and décolletage. After a few minutes, I can feel this tingling sensation, its not irratating in the slightest, it tells me the product is working. For maximum results, I do not apply night cream, I just go to bed with the liquid gold all over my face. During the night, I can feel my skin becoming hydrated. I wake up in the morning with a new layer of skin, it’s plumped! I use the product every other two nights. As its strong, I don’t want to overdo it! The product has 5 different uses for the skin: exfoliation, hydration, firming, transportation, and softens pigmentation.

So far I have noticed some change, its only been a week, my lines are less reduced, my face looks a lot more brighter, I can feel hydration. This doesn’t mean to say stop drinking water, far from it, the body needs 100% hydration. The texture on my face is improving a lot, I can see it working! I am hoping in 6 months time my skin is so clear you will be able to see through it (haha)

On my liquid gold days, I do not apply a face mask, I just cream using a light moistouriser. I do not use my clarisonic either, as that will mess up the liquid gold phase overnight. I use less exfoliator products now, as that is quite harsh on my skin, leaves me feeling red and irritated. I apply my eye cream and lip balm at night and I am done! When I am not using liquid gold, I will go in and apply my glamglow thirstymud – a light layer is plenty, lip balm and my eye serum!

Liquid gold is benefical for any skin type. It is pricey so maybe check that you really need it, or take the plunge like I did! So far I do enjoy using it! This product does contain 5% glycolic acid, so please be careful!
