I am an avid follower of Huda on Instagram, when her first textured palette was released, there were a lot of mixed reviews which put me off a bit. Once I saw and heard of this palette, I was a little hesitant, purely because of the price.
I scoured the internet for reviews, watched endless YouTube videos on it, and then finally made a decision. Yes, this palette is at a staggering £56! It’s almost the price of gold when you think about it! Can be purchased from Harrods, Selfridges, and Cult Beauty. I purchased mine from Harrods and have a friend who works there, so I got lucky not paying such a hefty price tag!
The packaging is beautiful, the outer packaging box is pink and shiny. With Huda’s brand, it instantly speaks chic. Once opening, the actual palette cover is Huda’s eyes, it simply is stunning. A true Arabian desert queen. The duo-chromatic effect is glistening,
The palette contains 8 matte shades: Blazing, Saffron, Amethyst, Oud, Amber, Eden, Musk, Desert Sand. 6 pressed pearls in plum, bronze and rose hues with a high shimmer finish, velvet finish: Turkish Delight, Angelic, Cashmere, Royal, Nerfertiti and Blood Moon. 3 Duo-chrome toppers, light-shifting formula, can be used alone, sprayed with a little fix plus for an intense sheen glow: Retrograde, Twilight and Celestial. 1 Pur3 glitter for a bolder look: Cosmo.
I wish you could see the amount of foil shimmer on the ^^ swatches!
I used the palette for the first time on Saturday, the colours are warm, very vibrant and the texture is like butter, so smooth and creamy. The mattes are really pigmented, I just dipped my brush in slightly and a lot of colour went onto my eyelids. They blend out so nicely, so no matter how much colour there is on the eyelid, you can always blend blend blend! I didn’t take a picture, I applied my eye makeup at 09:30 am and removed my makeup at 04:00 am, early Sunday morning. I had a very busy day and was out for engagement drinks, my eyes didn’t crease one bit! As I didn’t take a picture, I did a re-run and created a new look.
So for the eyes: Primed with Mac soft ochre paint pot. Applied Eden on the crease. Just above my crease, I applied Amber, then intensified with Saffron and Blazing for a sunset effect. Applied saffron on the outer-v. Primed my inner and middle lid with soft ochre and patted on Blood Moon with my finger. I noticed it didn’t apply well at first, so went in with a small flat brush with a little bit of mist spray. Then layered on Celestial. Applied Twilight in the inner corners. A touch of Nerfertiti on the eyebrow arch. I then applied pink lippy on my lips, and went in with Amber and Saffron, gently patted on the lips and applied Angelic for a pucker pout 🙂 For the lower lash line, I combined Amber and Blazing, then on top applied Celestial. Inner corner with Twilight.
There is very little fallout. However, the pressed pearls are a hit and miss, don’t get me wrong, very creamy and packed full of pigmentation, but hard to work with, Applying with my finger sort of worked, but had to go back in with a wet brush. The duo-chromes are lovely, a little goes a long way! It is a versatile palette, may even become one of my staples alongside the ABH modern renaissance. I love the massive mirror inside. Great for traveling too. I tried doing a cut crease but just didn’t work, I’m not a pro mua, I just love playing with makeup and creating new looks.
It is pricey, if you really want it, get it! Will it ever go on sale?!?! Who knows, maybe not!
